Mary Alden and James at Scarritt Bennett

On a warm day in May, Mary Alden and James got married at Scarritt Bennett Chapel. The day began at the Page Road Mansion in Belle Meade where Mary Alden got pampered and into her beautiful wedding gown. I loved getting to meet her bridesmaids and learn how they met Mary Alden before we piled all the girls on a bed in one of the many bedrooms to take pictures in their robes.

The Georgian style awning in front, complete with webbing ivy, made the perfect spot for the couple’s first look. They exchanged letters before turning to see each other for the first time that day. And let me tell y’all, the way they look at one another is enough to melt anyone’s heart. The amount of reverence and joy they have for one another is evident when we were doing portraits. Beforehand, Mary Alden told me that her soul just feels at peace when she’s with James, that he’s kind, smart, patient and thoughtful. James said that Mary Alden helps him step out of his comfort zone and that he most admires her compassion for others and her kind heart.

The celebration continued to the ceremony at Scarritt-Bennett — one of my favorite chapels in Nashville. The light is just so good. Hearing the two of them share their vows and seal it with a kiss was one of the greatest joys of the day.

They are truly both romantics at heart, and I could feel that throughout their wedding day. From the backlit chapel at Scarritt Bennett to the exquisite, ivy-dripped estate at Page Road, the modern romanticism was everywhere. Spiral stairs stacked with florals. Chandeliers and tall ceilings. The couple even stepped out on a balcony surrounded with ivy to make their grand entrance. It was a fun-filled and heart-warming day, and if you want to know what I mean just watch their films below.
