I met Morgan and Drew last year in a coffeeshop and I knew pretty much instantly that they were my kind of people. As we walked through the things that were important to them on their wedding day, they also shared photos of their sweet fur babies and their love of world travel. They are the perfect balance between crazy fun and perfectly laidback. I loved hearing about their love story and how Morgan moved to Nashville to be closer to Drew when they were dating. They are both so compassionate and kind so it makes sense they share an occupation in healthcare. Drew is PA and Morgan works as a Quality of Life Director at a nursing home.
Their wedding day was a chilly afternoon at the very beginning of November when the leaves were just changing colors. We had a pretty dry end-of-summer in Nashville so everyone was worried their wouldn’t be pretty colors, but the trees really pulled through for Morgan and Drew to make a stunning backdrop on their special day.
The Barn at Sycamore Farms is one of our favorite venues, and the gorgeous lakeside ceremony spot complemented Morgan and Drew’s elegant wedding vibes. Everything was lace and soft florals, and there were smiles and tears everywhere we turned. We loved the burgundy and sage color combination with touches of blush.
There were so many special details at the wedding including their guest book table which was decorated in a travel theme and champagne glasses from Italy, pictured below. Also did we mention the wedding cake was half-roses and half-Eagles? Check it out.
Morgan kept it chic and casual (as you know all my best brides do) with Keds x Kate glitter sneakers and a gorgeous Stella York lace-covered dress. Her ladies were by her side in a deep red that fit the day and the season so perfectly.
For Drew and the guys, it was slick navy suits with pops of that same red color.
Speaking of which, the bridal party at the wedding was definitely one of the highlights. Drew is originally from California so a lot of the party travelled across the country to be present, which is a testament to how tight-knit this group was. Between the inside jokes, roasts, and emotional moments, it was hard not to feel the love.
One of the photos Morgan really wanted was an image of her ladies looking at her in a mirror with her wedding dress on. Luckily, Sycamore Farms has a very pretty floor-to-ceiling mirror in the bridal suite so I was happy to make her dream happen. After a few tries we got the perfect shot.
As usual, though, my favorite moments of the day were with Morgan and Drew’s family. There were tear-jerking moments around every corner — the sweet hugs after Morgan’s mom helped her into the dress, Drew’s (manly) tears as he watched Morgan’s dad walk her down the aisle, and that moment when Drew’s grandmother joined in the mother-son dance. I’m going to cry tender tears just thinking about it!
The ceremony was sweet and featured handwritten vows from Drew and Morgan. Talk about emotional tears! They read their vows to one another as the sunset cast gorgeous golden light onto the scene. All the emotions and nervousness of the day could be felt in their first kiss as husband and wife.
One of the first things Morgan and Drew told me when we met was that their group loved to have a good time, and they booked me for ten hours just to capture all the great moments at the reception. I have to say, they made good on their promise of a good time; there were countless incredible moments that couldn’t be missed. Like when all the groomsmen scream-sang Stacy’s Mom to… uh, Stacy’s mom or how the entire night there was a balloon artist making zany hats and bracelets for all the guests.
Probably the best moment was when the groomsmen surprised Morgan and Drew with two new puppies…
Okay, so they were stuffed animals, but the reactions were PRICELESS.
After some amazing dance moves and a lot of fun celebrating with their loved ones, the two newlyweds exited under a glowing tunnel of sparklers and headed off to Italy for their honeymoon!
